Acne Spot Treatments

Ugh. Absolutely hate when I have breakouts. Crazy thing is that as a teenager I didn’t really have a lot of acne issues, but as an adult I tend to have breakouts more often. I am pretty sure that most of my breakouts are caused from lack of sleep and/or stress. But I swear these bad boys always pop up at the most inconvenient times- when I have an event or party to go to. Go figure right?!

Well, that is why acne spot treatments are available. Most of these products will help to get rid of your acne as fast as possible. Everyone’s skin is different so you really must try one out to see if it will work for you. I apologize in advanced that most of these products are high end. I will do drugstore version of this list, but I will need to try some out first.

So without further ado…

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion $17 – This stuff is freaking AMAZING. This is one of the first acne spot treatments that I have tried and yes it works! This product promises to shrink whiteheads overnight while you sleep! This product is a little different in that you should not shake the bottle; you are only supposed to apply the pink part of the product on the skin. I think a qu-tip is best for applying this product. This product is great for all skin types and I recommend trying this product first if you are in the market for an acne spot treatment.

Murad Acne Spot Treatment $18 – Murad carries great products. This one is no exception.  It is made without sulfates and phthalates. This product works great at clearing up blemishes. You are supposed to use this product right when you feel a breakout coming which will help with faster relief. The only downside with this product is that it works best when you use it alongside the other Murad Acne Complex products.

Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel $16 – The best thing about Clinique products is that it is non-abrasive and really great for even the most sensitive skin. The product will help reduce irritation and redness of breakouts and also helps to diminish its size and visibility. It is best to apply twice a day- morning and night.

Origins Super Spot Remover Acne Treatment Gel $15 – I love this product. Let me start with this- it is made without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs and Tricolsan. I have no clue what any of these products are, but if I can’t pronounce them then they can’t be good right? Especially on my face! This product promises to “heal, fight, and fade it fast.” What is not to love about that? I highly recommend this product if you have sensitive skin or if you want a product that is more natural.

Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment $32 – This one is more on the pricier side, but well worth it. This product is a bit more abrasive as the other ones and is meant for moderate to severe acne. This really does the job of drying out the pimple. You would apply it 1-3 times daily, as needed. It is recommended to apply once and then gradually to three times a day if needed. It can cause excessive dryness or peeling and if it does you should reduce the amount of times you apply it. This is one of those products that will definitely work, but you may want to test it on your skin first especially if you have sensitive skin.

Let me know if you have tried out any of these products and if so, which one is your favorite! If not, i would love to hear what acne spot treatment works best for you!
