Shiseido Ibuki Skincare

ibukiI have nothing but great things to say about this skincare line. I am very picky when it comes to skincare since I have really sensitive skin and tend to get dry patches during colder seasons. I first fell in love with Shiseido after trying out their sunscreen. I have been an avid user of this sunscreen for years. A few months back I went to a Shiseido counter to purchase my beloved sunscreen and they had a free gift with purchase. In the gift they had a sample of the Ibuki cleanser and moisturizer. Since that day I have been hooked.

The slogan for this line is “Ready for Anything Skin”. It promises to enhance the skin’s resistance to harsh elements and to also provide a radiant glow. The entire range consists of 7 products – 2 cleaners, 1 softener, 3 moisturizers and 1 eye cream. They have a regime for both dry to normal skin and oily skin. This is helpful because instead of using all 7 items in the line, it specifies which products will work best for you given your skin type.

Here is brief overview of the line –

-Purifying Cleaner $30: Gentle exfoliant that lathers to a rich foam. This is great to use a few times a week to remove any impurities

-Gentle Cleaner $30: This cleanser is perfect for everyday use. This lathers to a foam and leaves your skin soft and glowing

-Softening Concentrate $24: This product gives instant moisture. I love this because I have really dry skin and this helps to make my skin really soft and hydrated.

-Protective Moisturizer with SPF 18: $45: This moisturizer is perfect if you want something that already has SPF. It lessens your routine by one extra step since no additional SPF application is needed unless you plan to be outdoors for an extended period of time.

-Refining Moisturizer $45: This moisturizer is not too thick or too thin. It is just right and helps to correct the appearance of uneven skin, pores and blemishes.

-Refining Moisturizer Enriched $45: This product also does the same things the Refining Moisturizer does, but it is a crème and it is more intense. It provides great moisture and helps to keep your skin hydrated. I love to use this product at night so it has time to really penetrate my skin.

-Eye Correcting Cream $40: This eye cream helps with dark circles, puffiness and fine lines.

I have been using this product for over 2 months now and I would have to say that I have seen change. My skin is not flawless by any means, but I tend to get fewer breakouts, it does help the appearance of unevenness and I have more of a healthy natural glow. My favs from this line is definitely the Gentle Cleanser, Softening Concentrate, Refining Moisturizer and the Eye Correction Cream.

Most Shisedo counters sell a smaller “Starter Kit” for $25 that has a travel size of the Gentle Cleanser, Softening Concentrate and Refining Moisturizer. I would definitely recommend this if you want to try it out, but don’t want to splurge a lot. That way you can spend a reasonable amount and then decide whether or not you are interested in purchasing the full size products.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this product…
