REVIEW – Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

photo 5

I have a really awesome product find for you guys! Today I am reviewing the Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. All of us ladies love long, full lashes. The longer the better right?! Many of us buy false lashes in order to get that long, full lash and there are even products out that that will help grow your lashes.

photo 4photo 3photo 2photo 1

But falsies no more! This product is awesome. I was actually very impressed with the results that the 3D Fiber Lashes provided. It retails for $29 and I am so in love with the packaging. It comes in a really nice hard case and inside it has the Transplanting Gel and the Moonstruck Natural Fibers. It gave my lashes instant length and really made them look full. Best thing about it was that it was super easy.

1. Apply a thin coat of your favorite mascara and let it dry

2. Apply an even coat of the Transplanting Gel

3. Immediately apply the fibers on to the lashes

4. Add another coat of the Transplanting Gel to seal your lashes

*Note – It is always best to do one eye at a time and you can re-apply the Fibers at anytime as long you seal it in with the Transplanting Gel.

The pictures I provided are from my first time trying it out. I wanted to give you the my first impression pictures. I know that this product can do wonders once I get a hang of it more.

I really recommend this product to you if you love long lashes, but don’t want to wear falsies. You can purchase it here and take a look at other products Younique has in store or you can contact Katie Slabaugh at makeupactually@yahoo.com.

Have any of you tried this out already?! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Shiseido Ibuki Skincare

ibukiI have nothing but great things to say about this skincare line. I am very picky when it comes to skincare since I have really sensitive skin and tend to get dry patches during colder seasons. I first fell in love with Shiseido after trying out their sunscreen. I have been an avid user of this sunscreen for years. A few months back I went to a Shiseido counter to purchase my beloved sunscreen and they had a free gift with purchase. In the gift they had a sample of the Ibuki cleanser and moisturizer. Since that day I have been hooked.

The slogan for this line is “Ready for Anything Skin”. It promises to enhance the skin’s resistance to harsh elements and to also provide a radiant glow. The entire range consists of 7 products – 2 cleaners, 1 softener, 3 moisturizers and 1 eye cream. They have a regime for both dry to normal skin and oily skin. This is helpful because instead of using all 7 items in the line, it specifies which products will work best for you given your skin type.

Here is brief overview of the line –

-Purifying Cleaner $30: Gentle exfoliant that lathers to a rich foam. This is great to use a few times a week to remove any impurities

-Gentle Cleaner $30: This cleanser is perfect for everyday use. This lathers to a foam and leaves your skin soft and glowing

-Softening Concentrate $24: This product gives instant moisture. I love this because I have really dry skin and this helps to make my skin really soft and hydrated.

-Protective Moisturizer with SPF 18: $45: This moisturizer is perfect if you want something that already has SPF. It lessens your routine by one extra step since no additional SPF application is needed unless you plan to be outdoors for an extended period of time.

-Refining Moisturizer $45: This moisturizer is not too thick or too thin. It is just right and helps to correct the appearance of uneven skin, pores and blemishes.

-Refining Moisturizer Enriched $45: This product also does the same things the Refining Moisturizer does, but it is a crème and it is more intense. It provides great moisture and helps to keep your skin hydrated. I love to use this product at night so it has time to really penetrate my skin.

-Eye Correcting Cream $40: This eye cream helps with dark circles, puffiness and fine lines.

I have been using this product for over 2 months now and I would have to say that I have seen change. My skin is not flawless by any means, but I tend to get fewer breakouts, it does help the appearance of unevenness and I have more of a healthy natural glow. My favs from this line is definitely the Gentle Cleanser, Softening Concentrate, Refining Moisturizer and the Eye Correction Cream.

Most Shisedo counters sell a smaller “Starter Kit” for $25 that has a travel size of the Gentle Cleanser, Softening Concentrate and Refining Moisturizer. I would definitely recommend this if you want to try it out, but don’t want to splurge a lot. That way you can spend a reasonable amount and then decide whether or not you are interested in purchasing the full size products.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this product…

Fashion – Black Chiffon Maxi

Chiffon MaxiI love when it starts getting warmer outside because that of course means that it is time to pull out all your spring and summer dress. I love all dresses, but I must say that this season I have been loooooovvvving maxi dresses. They are easy and comfortable and you can easily style it for day and night. My latest obsession is the black chiffon maxi dress. Chiffon gives it more fun and elegance and you can really dress it up with some pumps and a clutch or dress it down with sandals and a jean jacket.

1. DKNY Faux-Wrap Maxi Tank Dress $295 – I love how this maxi is very casual on top but fancy at the bottom. This is one of those maxis that you can really “dress up” and “dress down.”

2. Arden B. Zebra Printed Halter Maxi Dress $98 – Sexy Sexy Sexy! Yes, this dress screams sexy! The Zebra print gives this maxi a lot of character and I love the halter top with the keyhole and criss cross back. This maxi is perfect for a great summer day.

3. Lush Faux Wrap Chiffon Maxi Dress $32 – This maxi is very unique. It has a great abstract print and I just love the leg cut out and the plunging back. It is sexy without being over the top.

4. Bailey 44 ‘Tattooed Love Godess’ Stripe Sheer Inset Maxi Dress $196 – I loooooveee this one. Stripes are always in and I absolutely love how this is a very simple yet complex dress. I love how it breaks from stripes to the sheer inset. Such an awesome piece.

5. Forever 21 Lace-Up Cutout Maxi Dress $27 – This is a great cheaper option for the a black chiffon maxi. I love the lace cutout waist, it gives it such an edgy look.

I hope you enjoyed my picks:)

What is your favorite type of maxi?

Lip Stain on a Budget!

Lip Stain on a BudgetLip stains on a budget! Today I will be going over my top picks for drugstore lip stains. First, let’s briefly go over what a lip stain is. A lip stain is similar to a lip stick, but it is usually in the form of a liquid or gel and stays on longer than a lipstick. It basically leaves a stain on your lips…hence the term “lip stain”.

So without further ado…

photo 2

L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lip Lacquer $8 – It comes in 12 different shades – Berry Persistent, Coral Tattoo, Endless Red, Eternally Nude, Everlasting Caramel, Infinite Fuchsia, Lilac Ever After, Pink Perseverance,  Pink Rebellion, Pink Resistance, Rose On and On and Stubborn Plum. This is called the next generation lip stain since it has qualities of a gloss. This stain contains 30% water and leaves lips hydrated for up to 6 hours. It also has great shine, but doesn’t leave a sticky feel. Give this one a try, you won’t be disappointed.

photo 4

L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour $9 – Yes, we have another L’Oreal product on this list. Can’t help it…it’s good stuff. This is a 2-step lip product that provides long-wearing lipcolour. It comes 24 shades, which is too many to list here, but it is a definite plus that it has a wide array of shades to fit everyone and any occasion.  This product promises 16 hours of wear that will not flake or wear out mid-lip. The formula also contains Vitamin E to moisturize and condition your lips.

photo 1

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain $7 – I love this balm stain. First off, I love the packaging. It’s super simple, really cute and it is easy to find in my purse. Second and most important, this is a balm stain, which is awesome because it doesn’t dry out your lips. A lot of lip stains are known to be very drying on your lips. This one isn’t. It is a lightweight lip stain that has the moisture of a balm. It comes in 12 awesome shades – Adore, Charm, Cherish, Crush, Darling, Honey, Lovesick, Precious, Rendezvous, Romantic, Smitten and Sweetheart.

photo 3

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Lip Stain $10 – This one is a bit harder to find at the stores, but I had to include it on the list because it’s a great product. They sale the Boots brand at Target so I am hoping that you can find this at your local Target store. This product comes in a pen form, which is great if you like to define your lips. You can perfectly trace the line of your lips and then fill it in. This lip stain is perfect to wear during the day or at night. It has a matte finish and is very buildable, so you can make the color very light or very intense. It comes in 5 great shades – Ballet, Ruby, Posy, Sultry and Seduce.

photo 5

Maybelline Super Stay 24 2-Step Lip Color $8 –This product promises 24 hour staying power which is a bit of a stretch, but I will say that it does last a long time. I like this product because it comes in a ton of shades – 35 to be exact! You will definitely be able to find a shade that fits you. Great thing about this product is that it comes with a balm, so you can just keep on applying to balm to your lips and it will keep the color intact and your lips hydrated. This product also promises not to crumble, cake, fade, feather or transfer.

I hope this helps you if you are in search of a good lip stain at a reasonable price:)

What is your favorite lip stain?

Best Sunscreens

Best Sunscreens

With my last post about protecting your skin, I thought it would be great to give you my top picks for sunscreen. There are soooo many different types of sunscreens out there. Find the one that is best for you and that fits your needs. The most important thing is to remember to use sunscreen daily!

photo 1

La Roche Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral $33 – This is an ultra light sunscreen that is perfect for those with sensitive skin. It is paraben-free, fragrance-free and dermatologist recommended. The formula of this sunscreen absorbs quickly and does not leave that a white film. It is also water-resistance and the most impressive thing is that it has a matte finish. I absolutely love this sunscreen and this product has also won beauty awards from Allure, Self and Elle magazine.

photo 1 (2)

alba BOTANICA Very Emollient Sunscreen $9 – alba BOTANICA is a great brand. They have tons of awesome products. To our luck, they also have a great sun protection line. They have a variety of different sunscreens available depending on your needs, but this one is my absolute favorite.  It is a mineral sunscreen and is perfect for those with sensitive skin. It is paraben and fragrance fee and is also water resistant for up to 40 minutes.  It is a lightweight formula that is fast absorbing. What I also like about this sunscreen is that it is also good for your skin. It has Sunflower Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Aloe Vera, Grape Seed Oil and Vitamin E.

photo 2

Shiseido Ultimate Protection Cream + Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ for Face – This is honestly the first sunscreen that I fell in love with. I have used this sunscreen off and on for the past 5 years and there is really nothing bad to say about it. A little goes a long way. A bottle of this can last well over a year. I like this one because it provides powerful protection yet is it not super heavy or overpowering. I wear this after my moisturizer and it does not feel heavy at all and although the formula is creamy it doesn’t leave a white finish. This sunscreen is also water and perspiration resistant.

photo 4 (2)

Baby Bum SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick $13 – This sunscreen is awesome. It is made specifically for babies so if you have children, this is a definite must-have. Since it is made for specifically for babies it is also great for you if you have super sensitive skin. This sunscreen is 100% mineral based, eco-friendly and water-resistant for 80 minutes. It is also fragrance-free and is free of parabens, phthalates and PABA. Another plus about this sunscreen is that it is Skin Cancer Foundation approved and recommended. I also like that this sunscreen comes in a stick formula. It is super handy and easy to apply. This is the perfect sunscreen to carry with you when you will be out in the sun all day. Just pop this in your purse, baby bag or beach bag and your all set.

photo 2 (2)

Banana Boat Sport Performance Coolzone Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 $8 – This sunscreen is perfect for those who are in sports or those who will be active outdoors for an extended period of time. This is a non-greasy, fast absorbing sunscreen that is water resistant for up to 80 minutes. The great thing about this sunscreen is that it instantly cools your skin on contact and gives you a very refreshing feeling. It also has a very clean scent which is great if you have been sweating. Best thing about this sunscreen is that it is also recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.

photo 3 (2)

Coppertone Tattoo GUARD Continuous Spray SPF 50 Sunscreen $11 – It is so awesome how much beauty and skin care products have evolved. I had to include this on the list of best sunscreens because wow…we now have sunscreen to help protect those with tattoos. This sunscreen has a moisturizing formula that is hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and water resistant for up to 80 minutes. This sunscreen protects your skin against UV rays that can fade and blur tattoos. You can purchase this sunscreen in a lotion, stick or spray. I like the spray best since it covers large tattoos easily and provides even coverage.

photo 4

Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50 + $38 – My most favorite thing about this sunscreen is that it is ultra-light. I have never came across a sunscreen that is as light as this. It literally feels like nothing on your skin. It is easy to apply and fast-absorbing. The formula is also oil-free, fragrance-fee and non-comedogenic. Another plus about this sunscreen is that it is also good for your skin. It helps fight 90% of skin aging including lines, wrinkles, uneven texture and tone.

photo 3

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun Advanced Sunscreen SPF 30 $8 – L’Oreal has a lot of different sunscreens available, but I would have to say that this one is my favorite. It is very comparable to some high-end sunscreens. The formula is lightweight and contains antioxidants that are great for your skin. This sunscreen is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes and is easy to apply and fast-absorbing. You can’t go wrong with this one.

There are so many different kinds of sunscreens out there. It can become overwhelming when looking for one that is best for you. I hope my top picks really helps you in picking a sunscreen that works for your skin and activities. Again, the most important thing is that you wear sunscreen daily as it can do wonders for protecting your skin.

What’s your favorite sunscreen?

Protect your skin!

Sunscreen

My apologies…I know its been awhile since my last post. There has been so much going on lately and I have been working on a few things that I am excited to share with you shortly.

Today, I will be going over a few important things to know about sunscreen. With spring already here and summer right around the corner, I thought this would be a perfect topic.

First, I wanted to give you a brief overview of the dangers of the sun and not protecting your skin.

  • -Skin Cancer – UVR (Ultra Violet Radiation) can cause skin cancer
  • -Photo aging -UV skin aging. Long term sun exposure causes hyper pigmentation and premature wrinkling
  • -Sunburn – Inflammation or blistering of the skin

With this said…it is soooo important to use sunscreen daily.

Here are a few tips and good things to know about sunscreen-

  • -Sunscreen should be worn even on overcast days. 70%-80% of the sun rays goes through clouds and fog
  • -SPF 15 or higher is best to use for everyday use. SPF 30 or higher is best if you will be outdoors for an extended period of time
  • -Apply sunscreen to dry skin. Sunscreen should be applied before your moisturizer
  • -Sunscreen should be applied at least 20 minutes before going outside
  • -Sunscreen should be re-applied every 2 hours
  • -Don’t forget to apply to sunscreen to your ears, neck and shoulders. These are the places most people forget

On a side note – here is the breakdown on SPF if you are curious…

SPF 15 filters out 93% of UV rays, SPF 30 filters out 97% of UV rays and SPF 50 filters out 98% of UV rays.

There are so many different sunscreens out there – water-resistance, sweat proof, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and they also have ones made especially for people with sensitive skin and also for those who play sports. Sunscreen can also come in many different forms – gel, spray, cream, and some even come on a stick. It doesn’t matter which type you use as long as you are wearing one.

I hope this information is helpful to you and that you protect you skin everyday!
